Hiking

Stamsund Hostel is a great base for hiking in Lofoten. You don't have to travel far to experience Lofoten at its best - here you can put on your hiking boots on the hostel and hike straight to the top. From the mountains, you'll get a spectacular 360-degree view where sea and mountains meet. It's walking distance to the mountain range with peaks such as Stamsundheia, Steinetinden and Mannfallet.

Another well-known hike in the area is Justadtinden, which you can easily reach by taking the bus to the start of the trail at Hagskaret, about 10 minutes away. This is a slightly longer hike, but with pleasant terrain and fantastic views.

By car or bus, you can also get around the archipelago to the starting points for many other fantastic hikes.

Stamsundheia

Level: Easy
This is an easy hike starting from the hostel and up to the summit at 370 meters above sea level. Walk about 30 minutes from the hostel to the ski resort. The climb starts from here. Great hike with fantastic views. Perfect for all levels.

Steinetinden - Stamsundheia (Fjellrekka)

Level: Intermediate - Difficult

Either hike only to the top of Steinetinden or hike the entire mountain range. This is a more demanding hike with some exposure, but in return exciting terrain with fantastic views. Start from the hostel and follow signs to "Steinetinden" and "Mannfallet" on the trail. Here you can also choose to walk to the ski resort and via Stamsundheia. both routes are possible. 

Justadtinden

Level: Intermediate

This hike takes you to one of the highest peaks in Vestvågøy, at 738 meters above sea level. A nice hike that starts relatively calmly with a gentle climb before gradually rising more towards the end. Here you get a panoramic view of the whole of Vestvågøy.

Take the bus from the hostel (Hartvågen bus stop) to the bus stop called "Hagskaret", a trip of about 10 minutes. From here, the path up to Justadtinden starts immediately.

Fjellturer - Vestvågøy

There are many great hikes elsewhere on Vestvågøy that you can easily reach by car within 30-40 minutes, and here we mention some of the more famous and popular ones:
